On New Year gave me the book "Culinary wisdom from Julia Child."

Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter
oil 1 tablespoon olive oil
5 cups onions, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1 / 4 teaspoon sugar (to bow got a beautiful brown color)
3 tablespoons flour
0,5 cup dry white wine or vermouth
6 cups beef broth
Salt and black pepper to taste
3 tablespoons brandy
12 fried slices of French baguettes
1-2 cups grated Swiss cheese or parmesan cheese

Preparation:
Put a large saucepan over medium fire and heat the butter and olive oil together. Add onions and cook for 15 minutes under the lid closed. Add salt and sugar, simmer 30 to 40 minutes until the onions will get a nice golden brown. Sprinkle with flour and fry for another 3 minutes.
Add wine, broth, seasonings to taste and bring to a boil. Cooking, closing the lid, for 30-40 minutes. Before submitting, add the brandy. Pour the soup to pot, place 2 slices of roasted baguette, add Swiss cheese or parmesan cheese and place in oven until cheese browns.

Serve immediately.
